Description
Articles on Islam appear every day in the press. However, there is much ignorance regarding the exact nature of Islam. Many assume that the religion is one coherent body of conduct and action. This is incorrect. There are many forms of Islam, including the obvious ones of Sunni and Shi'a. Even these two are vastly different in their approach to religious and social issues.

The most profound critique of Islam on the question of the relationship between faith and reason is in terms of Logos, the Greek term for both human reason and the order of the universe. Christianity is different from Islam: the Christian God acts with Logos. Islam is not docile to Logos, nor for that matter is Islam's God; God's will, according to Islam, is arbitrary and inscrutable.

In this book Dr. E. Michael Jones analyzes the crucial concept of Logos and reviews its theological implications, together with the different approaches of Western and Islamic philosophy. This examination of general principles is followed by a detailed look, from the perspective of the Catholic Church, at a number of important specific issues relating to these principles. By this means Dr. Jones shows himself to be without rival in the understanding of the relationship between Islam and the Church.
