Description
"Everything from the pen of Blessed Eymard breathes a deeply Eucharistic spirit. But the present volume is all perfumed with the incense of prayer poured forth in the presence of the Guest of our tabernacles. This third volume of Pere Eymard's works hardly needs an introduction to American readers, since its two predecessors, The Real Presence and Holy Communion have met with so appreciative a welcome.

"These Retreats At the Foot of Jesus Eucharistic lead the soul a step higher, into the rarer atmosphere of silence and solitude, where she can entertain herself with her Beloved, and enter upon that mystical union reserved for those alone who are hidden with Christ in God." (From the Introduction)

The works of Blessed Peter Julian Eymard are recognized the world over as classics of Eucharistic piety and doctrine.

Possibly no one has so insistently and perseveringly written or spoken of the Holy Eucharist as Blessed Eymard. Certainly, to quote Cardinal Gibbons, "We know of no apostle of modern times who has so thoroughly imbibed the Eucharistic spirit as Blessed Eymard. Devotion to the Blessed Sacrament was the dominant characteristic of his holy soul." In fact he looked on the world only through the "divine prism of the mystery of the Eucharist." The pages of the Eymard Library are "studded with Eucharistic Jewels just as they fell from the lips of the ardent apostle of the Holy Eucharist."
