Description
This book completes the retelling of the Bible that Fulton Oursler began in The Greatest Story Ever Told, which dealt with the life of Jesus as found in the four Gospels; and carried forward in The Greatest Book Ever Written, which retold the Old Testament. The Greatest Faith Ever Known is the story of the founding of Christianity and of the men who followed Jesus' steps to spread His word to the world. It retells the story of the Book of Acts and gives the setting in which the Epistles of Paul, Peter, and James were written. And it tells the story of these three men and the magnificent work they did in spreading the teachings of Jesus.

It is a tale of kings and jailers, of far voyages and shipwreck, of strange miracles and escape and ultimate martyrdom. Fulton Oursler has filled it with the warm sincerity and direct, simple readability that have won such wide recognition for the other two books in this brilliant trilogy. The Greatest Faith Ever Known does not attempt to explain or interpret, nor does it ever attempt to rationalize or modernize. It is completely faithful to the literal statements of the Scriptures and it is illuminated with deep personal devotion, mature understanding and scholarship.

Like its predecessors, The Greatest Faith Ever Known is a book to cherish.

Fulton Oursler, who died last year, was loved by millions of readers. He was a senior editor of Reader's Digest and had been editor in chief of Liberty magazine during its most successful period. He originated and supervised the radio program, The Greatest Story Ever Told, and was the author of five plays, thirteen novels, and numerous works of non-fiction. His column Modern Parables was syndicated in over 100 newspapers.

April Oursler Armstrong is the daughter of Fulton Oursler. For many years she was her father's assistant - doing his research, outlining articles for him, and working closely with him on his books. With such thorough schooling in her father's methods and style no one could have been better qualified to take up where he left off when he died. The final draft had been almost complete, and she worked with his notes and partial manuscript for the balance so expertly that the book has been completed in continuous narrative.
