Description
What Say You? is the fruit of many years' experience in the conduct of Quiz Periods, which followed addresses delivered by the author throughout the United States and Canada.

It was written by a layman to help other laymen to understand the principles and arguments that sustain belief in religion in general, and the Catholic religion in particular.

This book, as its challenging title - What Say You? - suggests, is of a controversial nature, though in the permissible sense of the term. This is seen in the spirit in which the wide range of questions dealt with are positively, argumentatively, yet courageously, and sometimes humorously, answered.

Readers of What Say You? will discover that the author does not enter into controversy for controversy's sake. In this, he imitates the Apostles, who were controversialists. It was on the anvil of controversy with opponents of the Church, and within the Church itself, that Christian creedal understanding was forged. It was through controversy, prayerfully entered into in defense of truth, that souls were often brought to Christ.

The author's objective in answering the questions presented in this book has ever been the triumph of truth over error. His endeavor has ever been to bring the peace and satisfaction of mind and heart to others, that he found to center in a proper understanding of religious and moral teachings; and by being in harmonious relationship with the Prince of Peace, who is "The Way, and the Truth, and the Life" (St. John 14:6).

Students who like clear-cut, well reasoned arguments, adequately authenticated; that teach religious principles, history and practices; arguments that meet challenging opponents without any "ifs, buts, and perhapses, or other hesitating and seemingly doubtful or evading replies," will appreciate What Say You? as did the Right Reverend Monsignor Hugh Francis Blunt, LLD, the able religious writer and poet, who said:

"I have just finished going through the manuscript of your splendid book, and was delighted with it."
