Father Husslein's book comes at a most opportune time when the liturgy is being discussed and studied on all sides and when the cry, "Back to the early Church!" is arousing interest in the history and spirit of the Apostolic Age.

Father Husslein has taken upon himself the task of dusting off the tomes of antiquity in order to reveal to us in all its first-born glory the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass as it was said by the Apostles and their immediate successors. The reading of this book will mean for most people not only diversion but also a deeper appreciation of the Mass of today which has come down to us with no essential changes. Like a modern journalist Father Husslein describes in the present tense our attendance at a Mass said by St. Peter in Jerusalem.
