About the Author:
Warren H Carroll, one of the major Catholic historians of our time, earned his PhD at Columbia University. After work in government, politics and teaching, he became convinced of the need for a strongly Catholic liberal arts college to properly form young people for the task of transforming their society. Accordingly, he founded Christendom College, which opened its doors in 1977 and granted the BA to its first full class in 1981. In addition to serving as President and professor of history at Christendom, Dr. Carroll is working on a major, six-volume history of Christendom. In his first shorter work, 1917, he presents the story of a pivotal year in dramatic terms which unveil the interaction of all the forces at work: natural and supernatural - human, satanic and Divine.
