Description
Every Sunday millions of Catholics hear passages from the Bible - a book whose final chapter was written almost two thousand years ago. Is there any meaning in these words for the men and women of today?

Father Henry Fehren ably proves that there is. Using the Scriptural passages as a foundation, he has written short meditations for each Sunday's Mass in a singularly entertaining, witty, down-to-earth style that brings out the message contained in the Word and makes it live for us - here, now, in our daily lives.

Each meditation in God Spoke One Word is designed to jolt the average Christian out of his normal Sunday morning lethargy and into a greater appreciation of the Christian life. And the whole is offered as testimony that God is not dead - that the Word, indeed, still dwells among us.

This is a book meant to be read before Sunday Mass, one chapter at a time, but Father's light touch might lead to reading it cover-to-cover in one sitting. In this case, the essays can then be reread in the proper liturgical sequence. The thoughts they contain bear repeating.

About the author:

Father Henry Fehren, author of the best-selling Christ Now, has been a parish priest for nineteen years, fourteen of them as a pastor. His expertise as a commentator on the Sunday liturgy is solidly based on this long experience, plus his extensive travel, high-school retreat works, scripture studies, and editorial activities. In addition, he writes a monthly column for US Catholic where these chapters first appeared.
