Fr. Johannes Dormann was born December 27, 1922. He studied Mathematics, Physics, Philosophy and Theology, and was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Cologne, in Germany (1953). He served as chaplain and pastor from 1953 through 1966 while continuing studies in Missionary Evangelism at Munster, as well as Ethnology, Ethnosociology and Comparative Religion (Bonn, Basel). He graduated in 1964. He taught Comparative Religions and Missionary Evangelism (1966-1970). He was professor in the same subjects at Munster University (1970-1984). He was a visiting professor on the theological faculty of Paderborn (1969-1975). In 1976, he was appointed director for Missionwork and the Study of Religions as Wilhelms-University of Munster, Westfalen.
